Pratts Bottom is a village in the London Borough of Bromley, on the border with Kent. It nestles in the Green Belt, on the dip slope of the North Downs, and oozes with history. Often the butt of jokes, the village is named after the Pratt family who lived in the valley from the 14th century. Until the 1830s the village was on the toll road from London to Hastings and was the haunt of smugglers and highwaymen.

Sevenoaks Council has introduced pay and display by Knockholt station and offered residents tickets only to those villagers who live within their boundary, which is a minority of the local community.
This is despite the fact that the station and the north side of the road from the A21 to the station (opposite side from the golf course) is in Bromley, not Sevenoaks, Pratts Bottom resident Louise Gibbons, says "In the winter months I have to walk home through the wooded footpaths which is an unpleasant and scary experience, especially for a woman. I walk to the station most of the year but in the winter drive in order to avoid this walk home." Her approach to Sevenoaks Council met with the response that she does not live in their district and it is none of her business. Chelsfield and Pratts Bottom Councillor Julian Grainger says "The main road (Sevenoaks Road) is in Sevenoaks, including the lamp posts on the north verge. The fields to the north, including the station, is in Bromley. This doesn’t make things easy but neither does it mean that we (Chelsfield & Pratts Bottom Councillors) have given up. The important point is that the local councillors on the Sevenoaks side were unhappy with the decision in March 2011 - but it is they who have to work within the Sevenoaks / Kent County system - including dealing with the various parties who pushed for the scheme."
