Hi my name is Joyce Gosnell and I am the new Chairman of the Village Hall Committee.
Regrettably John Hickinbottom stepped down as Chairman on 8th February. He has been on the committee for 22 years and spent the last 13 as Chairman. Under his leadership, the hall has gone from strength to strength and has activities taking place every day of the week. So much thanks is owed to him for all his dedication and hard work as a Trustee, He has great foresight and has always planned well for the future of the hall. Fortunately John will be staying on as a Trustee and I know I will find his knowledge and expertise invaluable.
I have been a Trustee on the Committee for 14 years and have served under John, as Secretary for the past 13 years.
John Stephenson, who became involved with the hall at the start of Covid, has agreed to be Vice Chairman. While the hall was closed during lock down, he has worked along side John H. to maintain the hall, keep it clean and Covid free. They both worked very hard keeping up to date with all the government regulations and the hall was ready to open as soon as it was permitted.
It is with great sadness that the committee has said goodbye to Gwyneth and Peter Hudson, who have been Trustees on more than one occasion. They too have worked tirelessly to look after the hall and ensure that it runs efficiently.
Thank you so much Peter and Gwyneth.
In this world of Health and Safety, Covid and Customer Service, the hall is a much more complex enterprise than it used to be and it takes a great deal of hard work to maintain and organise it. The Trustees are always grateful for assistance.
You don't have to join the committee and attend meetings. If you live in Pratts Bottom, or very close by and have some spare time to help out, that would be great. It could involve helping to clean and tidy the kitchen once a month, doing some simple repairs or putting out/clearing tables and chairs from time to time.
If you are interested, please email or give me a call.
